"Breathe deep, find your center, and conquer your day. Embrace yoga and meditation, fuel your Fit India way." Our college proudly hosted a yoga and meditation session as part of the Fit India 2023 initiative on 22 December 2023. Ms. R. Kavitha, a renowned yoga instructor from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Arts and Science for Women, Perambalur, graced us with her presence. Yoga instructor provided a captivating introduction to the topic, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of yoga for both physical and mental well-being. She then guided the student-teachers through simple yet effective meditation and breathing exercises, ensuring hands-on practice for effective learning. The student-teachers were actively engaged throughout the session, posing insightful questions and demonstrating a keen interest in understanding the importance of breathing exercises and their numerous benefits. We were delighted to our student-teachers and teaching faculty participates in this enriching experience. Through this session, we aimed to not only equip our student-teachers with practical tools for stress management and well-being but also inspire them to integrate yoga into their daily lives. We believe that the positive impact of this session will resonate for years to come.
Inspired by the Fit India movement initiative, our college hosted a vibrant Rangoli competition on December 19th, 2023. This event encouraged active participation from all our student-teachers, allowing them to express their unique artistic vision while embracing the core theme of Fit India. The competition saw a stunning array of Rangoli, each one a captivating reflection of the participants' inner creativity. From vibrant swirls and intricate patterns to playful depictions of fitness activities, the Rangoli brought the Fit India message to life in a multitude of colors and textures. This event was a beautiful showcase of not only artistic talent but also a commitment to promoting health and wellness within our teachers’ community. The enthusiasm and dedication of the student-teachers were truly inspiring, making the competition a resounding success in the theme of Fitness Makes Healthy and Happy
Our college proudly hosted an indigenous games event on December 18th, 2023, as part of the Fit India movement. This exciting initiative encouraged our first-year student-teachers to embrace physical activity through traditional games. The campus buzzed with laughter and friendly competition as these future educators embraced traditional physical activities. More than just fun, these games ignited potential for future athletic prowess and sharpened spatial awareness – key skills for both the classroom and the playing field.
The Fit India Quiz is a national initiative launched by the Government of India to promote health and fitness among students. The quiz is designed to test students' knowledge of fitness, sports, and nutrition, while also raising awareness about the importance of staying active and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Our college conducted the quiz programme for our student-teachers on 28 November 2023, which enhance awareness about health and fitness and physical activities and participation in sports, and promoting health eating habits and nutrition. The Fit India Quiz is open to all and our teacher-students grouped under 3 categories as team A, B and C. Rules were clearly instructed to them before started Quiz. They were actively participated and Team B won the quiz. This quiz has had a significant impact on their awareness and attitudes towards health and fitness. Our student-teachers got number of benefits like increased knowledge about health and fitness, improved physical fitness and overall health, enhanced motivation to stay active and adopt healthy habits, exposure to a variety of sports and fitness activities and opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills among them. The quiz was a fun and engaging way to educate and motivate our student-teachers to adopt healthy lifestyles. Overall, 36 student teachers were participated and benefitted by this Fit India Quiz.
The Fit India Pledge, a commitment to incorporating fitness into daily life, was initiated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2019, as part of the Fit India Movement. This nationwide initiative aims to foster a healthy and fit India by promoting physical activity and sports among all citizens. As part of this movement, our college's student-teachers, along with our faculty, took the following pledge:
"I pledge to myself that I will prioritize dedicating time for physical activity and sports every day, and I will actively encourage my family members and neighbors to embrace physical fitness, contributing to a healthier and fitter India." Adopting the Fit India Pledge offers numerous benefits, including enhanced physical health, reduced risk of chronic diseases, increased energy levels, stress reduction, improved sleep, and boosted self-esteem. By taking the pledge on 23.11.2023, our student-teachers embarked on a journey towards achieving a healthier and happier lifestyle. Our student-teachers and government school students from Perambalur District participated in this program, reaping its benefits.
Fit India Week 2023 was a major success in promoting fitness and health among Indians. As a pioneer of the society, our college student-teachers were encouraged to participate this event raised awareness of the importance of fitness and health and the event motivated our student-teachers to make fitness a part of their lives. Fit India Week 2023 was a significant milestone in the Fit India movement. The event demonstrated the power of collective action to promote fitness and health. We encouraged our teacher-students to get involved and create your own posters to help spread the word about the importance of fitness and healthy living on 24.11.2023. Our I year budding student-teachers were actively participated with their creative poster makings.
